Mentorship Program (Ages 10–30)
We Are Problematic Nonprofit
This program is for youth growing up in real situations—not perfect ones.
At We Are Problematic Nonprofit, we work with kids and young adults (ages 10–24) from low-income and struggling families who need more than advice—they need someone in their corner. Someone consistent. Someone real.
Because let’s be honest—what a lot of these young people are dealing with isn’t simple.
It’s pressure at home, lack of guidance, financial stress, and environments that don’t always set them up to win. It’s complicated. It’s unfair. And yes—it’s problematic.
We don’t run from that.
We build through it.
What This Program Is About
This isn’t just mentorship—it’s connection, accountability, and growth.
We match youth with mentors who:
Show up consistently
Keep it real (not just motivational talk)
Understand struggle without judging it
Help build confidence, structure, and direction
Participants receive:
One-on-one mentorship
Life skills and decision-making guidance
Academic and career support
Safe, judgment-free conversations
Positive role models and community support
Who It’s For
Youth ages 10–30
From low-income or financially struggling households
Facing challenges at home, school, or in their environment
Those who need guidance, structure, or someone to talk to
No perfect background required. Just willingness to grow.
The Process
We keep it simple—but intentional.
Step 1: Apply
A short application helps us understand:
The youth’s situation
Current challenges
Goals or areas where support is needed
We don’t overload families with paperwork—we focus on what matters.
Step 2: Real Review (Not First Come, First Served)
We prioritize based on need, not speed.
We look at:
Level of hardship
Lack of support systems
Risk factors (school issues, instability, etc.)
Readiness for mentorship
This ensures those who need it most get support first.
Step 3: Strategic Matching
This is where we do things differently.
We don’t randomly assign mentors. We match intentionally based on:
Personality & Communication Style
(Who will actually connect—not clash)Life Experience & Background
(Mentors who understand the mentee’s reality)Goals & Interests
(School, career, life direction)Level of Support Needed
(Some need guidance, others need consistency and structure)Energy & Accountability Match
(We pair people who can grow together—not just meet)
This isn’t about convenience—it’s about impact.
Step 4: Ongoing Support & Check-Ins
We don’t just match and disappear.
Regular check-ins with both mentor and mentee
Support when challenges come up
Adjustments if a match isn’t working
Continued guidance as the youth grows
Cost
Completely free.
No fees. No hidden costs. No barriers.
Why This Matters
Too many young people fall through the cracks—not because they don’t care, but because no one stayed consistent in their life.
We’re here to change that.
This program is about:
Breaking cycles
Building confidence
Creating stability
Giving youth a real shot
Our Approach
We’re not polished. We’re not perfect.
We’re real—and we’re committed.
At We Are Problematic, we understand that growth doesn’t come from pretending everything is fine. It comes from facing what’s broken and building something better anyway.
And no young person should have to do that alone.
